I have a 86 4-Runner. Need to replace Monroe shocks. What is the best brand for a soft comfortable ride. I do not 4-Wheel per say, just run the hard roads. This truck will be for long road trips where comfort is the word.

Also what is the easiest way to lift the rear end so the truck is level? Of course I don't want to make the truck ride rougher with this mod.

Any gas charged shock will give you great ride quality (Like the Monroes). As for the rear end, you need to get some aftermarket springs installed. They will have just as smooth of a ride depending on which ones you get.

BTW, I just measured my rear bumper last night and its down to 2" above original height as compared to the pics I posted, so they have definately settled some.

Also, if your interested, I have some new Rancho's I put on with the install that I would sell. Here's the deal: They are Rancho #5144. They have only been on the truck about a month. I found a listing for them that indicated they are for 0-2" lift applications. When I actually got them, they are only about 1" longer than the stock size when extended. They work fine and I will live with them if need be, but I would rather have longer ones if possible because I do intend to wheel alot. As far as softness, I think the ride is fine (for me) The improvement probably came from the springs as much as anything else though. It's nice to not bottom out and feel every speed bump right down to your fillings. PM me if your interested, I'll make you a good deal.
