Anybody know if rear shocks will fit in the front of a 4runner? I've got a pair of ProComp ES9000 shocks for a 2-3" lift. I'm doing fj80 coils in the rear so I may need a little longer shocks back there but I'll get about 2-3" in the front so I'd like to use them there if possible.

Also, do I need longer shocks if I want to do a body lift? Thanks

How are you getting 2-3 inches in the front? With a lift kit or cranking the tbars? I'm not familiar with the lift kits, but cranking the tbars does not increase the travel so longer shocks are not necessary. If you have low profile bumpstops then you can space the stock length shock down an inch to gain more travel.

Either way, I doubt the rear shocks will fit the front regardless of front lift.

A BL does not affect the suspension at all.

The shocks I'm using in the front are made for the rear of a 2nd Gen 4-runner. They have a stud post on the top and a loop end on the bottom. The length was perfect for me, but I have a 4" suspension lift. A body lift won't effect the shock length but a suspension lift will.

I'm going to run the ball joint spacers and maybe a little crank of the torsion bars, but not much. So I'm looking at around 2" or so.

That will extend your shocks more than before, so those rear shocks may work fine. The best thing to do is use a floor jack under the lower control arm with the t-bar loose and measure the full compression and full extention lengths needed. You don't want the shock to bottom out before your bump stops or get over extended when in full droop.

Not surprisingly, the best way to find out what shocks work best with the lift you have is to measure. Every truck is a little different.

The necessary increase in shock length is not directly related to new lift. As in, if you have 4" of rear lift, you need to get a 4" longer shock. Further more, longer in what direction? Usually lift only nets extension so you need a close compressed length.
