Shifter Rattle?

Hey everyone, just wondering if one of you can give me some advice or help me figure this out...

I started to notice a rattle (sounds sounds like metal on metal) coming from my manual shifter area when I'm hitting speeds of 60-70mph. It usually only happens on the highway but also on residential roads...

At first I thought it was the parking hand brake cable that was loose or moving around but it's not.

I took a look underneath the car but I don't see anything that it could be. Nothing seems loose at all in the general area or that could cause that sound.

Could it be my shifter seat needs changing? Gears enter fine and I don't have any problems shifting that I can feel. Perhaps its the transmission or something loose inside? Like I said I can hear it inside the cabin near the shifter area when driving at higher speeds...

Very perplexed...

I would try to take the stick assy. apart and see if there's anything broken or loose. Sometimes the flange can get loose.

Take the cover off and clean the coins or whatever it is you dropped down in there out.

If I'm going to take the stick assembly apart I might as well change the shifter seat too. The car is 14 years old and I've never had any problem with the transmission or clutch...
