Shaving emblems?

Sup people. i got a question that has to be answered.

I have a 95 4runner and i want to shave the emblems off teh back of it. ive seen it on a 3rd gen and i think it makes the ride really clean. if someone could tell me how i go about doing that it would be greatly appreciated.

lmk

4Runner,

Not sure what you mean by "shave" but I think what you're trying to say is to remove them. Check out my write up for making black pearl emblems as it will detail how to remove the emblems:

All of the emblems except the Toyota logo are just held on with emblem tape. Do this on a warm day to make it easy on yourself. You can use fishing line to get behind the emblem and cut through the foam tape holding it on. The residual adhesive will come off with WD40 (my adhesive remover of choice) Bob has a nice write up on this.

Good Luck. I'll be removing my rear emblems this summer to do the "Black Pearl" treatment. Did my front ones already and they are holding up well.

EDIT: Bob - you beat me to it. See what I get for tending to my kids...

alright guys thanks alot. ive been tweaking my runner lately so i figured this would be a nice touch, but since i have a black 4runner i dont know how good the black pearl logos would look. also, i live in southern mississippi where it is 95 degrees in the shade..so a "warm" day won't be a problem. i may do this tommorrow while im finding a place for my lcd box.

thnx a lot

There are two screws holding it on from behind the grille. Take the grille off by carefully depressing the tabs that hold it on with a screwdriver. I think there are 10 locations or so. There will still be a plastic oval left after removing the emblem. Take a close look to at it to see what I mean - only the chrome part somes off, the rest is molded in.

I personally like the black pearl emblems with dark vehicles. Mine is dark blue.
