The newer TJM 15 mounts are more stout than the earlier designed one's that Steve has, so trying to compare the two aren't the same. I do agree that the stock mounting plate isn't that strong, like I said earlier, eventually I'll add some bracing to them as well. Was thinking about adding a cross bar to the fornt of the frame mounts and a few diagonal tubes to brace the entire front end. Technically speaking the frame thickness isn't strong enough to handle winching or being winched, without the risk of damage.

Now Steve has made some really valid points, and I'm just thinking it's going to be another Tellico trip w/ no recovery points.
If you have a TJM on a 97 you don't have the front plates anyway. You should have hangers built into the mounts. Just add thickness to the existing mount.

The hangers I make will fit your truck stock but not with the TJM. They fit the 99-02 TJM.

I bought my TJM so long ago that when I bought it there was only one version like the ARB. If you had a 99+ you had to cut the plates.

Okay so what are you showing welded onto the TJM brackets there. I wanted to use the spots provided but they were nowhere thick enough, whatever your showing me with that picture is what I would like to duplicate. Thanks again,

Take a 2" round solid cylinder of steel, slice off 7/16" or so thick slice and drill a 1" hole in it. Weld one to each side of the bracket you already have.
