My vote is for ceramic. Longer life, easier on the discs, less dust.

I think ceramic causes more dust.

Anyway, your best bet is PF pads from Autozone. They rock!

(I just got them)

thankx

thankx for the input guys, the reason im "thinking" about going to Midas is the lifetime brakes, with kids work and sports i dont have much time to be "working" on the runner, id rather be wheeling in that time, which isnt much time at all. 2 kids, 3 sports, and they want to wheel, camp etc. so my time s very limited, lol....
keep the thoughts coming.

Carbon metallic pads with slotted rotors was the first mod I did to my truck. Do a search, christian had an insightful discussion about brakes not too long ago. To make a long story short, I didn't get them this time around because I didn't want to wait for them to ship and I'm regretting it big time. I didn't notice THAT much of a differenc when I put them it, but I noticed a huge loss in brake power when I went back to the stockers. Just thought I would throw that out!

For the record, Midas jacked the brakes up on my 98 Tacoma big time. I will NEVER go back to them again. Yes, they attempted to fix the murderous squeal that they created, but I had to make 3 trips at 10 miles one way to their stinky domestic-ridden shop. Never again.

Pad replacement literally took me 20 minutes from start to finish, including wheel R&R.

Something to think about. It's REALLY easy.

NAO stands for non-asbestos organic.

In comparing metalic with organic brake pads:

Semi-metalic brake pads wear longer and stand up to hard use better then an organic pad. They also wear out the rotor faster and squeal more.

Organic pads have greater initial "bite", and require less pedal force. They are easier on the rotor.

That's assuming all other things being equal, and the pads being of good quality. Well made organic pads will out perform poorly made metalics.

I drive hard, so I tend to like metalic or ceramic pads. If you drive gently, and like quiet brakes with a light touch, organics may be better suited.

Don't know Midas brakes, so I can't comment on them. I would not expect them to be particularly good though.

I know I don't like Raybestos. I've had several sets fail on me in past years. Worse failures would be having the bond glue fail, resulting in the liming coming off the shoe, and having a pad completely melt and drip all over the caliper. Generally a poorly made pad imo.

MIdas gives you a lifetime garantee on the pads only. This does not include labor. Stay away from Midas.
