Selling My 4runner for Taco D/C. What year?

So I'm selling my 4runner to get a Taco D/C but I don't know what year to get. Should I get the newer larger '05+ or the smaller previous generation? I like and kind of need the extra interior space of the newer ones but, does it's extra girth hinder it on the trail? I also like the power of the newer ones. I have a friend with a stock '07 D/C TRD long bed, but I'd like the short bed the L/B's wheel base is too long.
Looking for some input here, Thanx!

Just find a killer deal on one or the other and don't settle for anything less than you want.
Sounds good to me!
Ok, then that's what I'll do.
Thanx for the help.
Don't mention it.

Haha well here's some info from a 03 D/C owner. I love the truck. I have PreRunner so that mean 2wd. But I love the truck. People often tell me I'm obsessed with it. Hah! I will be looking into putting a super charger on it as soon as my finances and girlfriend allow me to. But hey if you can afford a newer one why not!?

I wish now i bought the double cab back when i bought mine in 2002. I still enjoy driving mine. If you can get the new ones those look pretty sweet.

Thanx for the info. My wife and I have pretty much decided to get a newer one because around my area there is an average price difference of only $3500 between a higher mileage '02 d/c and a low mileage '05 d/c.
What is pushing my to go newer, other than price, is the six speed manual available for the d/c but the auto not bad either. But I hate the fact that there is no t-case lever. I hate buttons! Also the extra power, they can move pretty well!

Good choice on the new Tacoma. I do love the older DC's, but the new ones are more powerful and roomier. I doubt that the extra width will be that much of a hinderance off-road. If it is...well, time to get an old truck to build up!

When you do get a new Tacoma, would you post up your review on the ride quality between that and your old 4Runner?

Thanks.

If only they would offer the 4.0/6spd manual on the 4 runner - I would be all over that in a heart beat! I'm kinda leaning toward a FJ, but the lack of sunroof and loss of power rear window --- I just don't know if could handle it after driving a 4R for 15 years! The DCs are nice, but the back seats are limited and bolt upright - maybe I could get used to them...
