The search: Almost ended!
As many of you know, I've been looking forever for a great used 4Runner. I finally found one.
The Black 1999 SR5 has lots of good stuff. Powersunroof, great coat of paint, Lojack system, other advanced security devices (remember, I'm in NYC) and was never off-roaded. It rides like a dream! We have a deal at $15.9k. The truck has a low 45k miles on it. 4 new wide tires, new brakes, well maintained and the unconditional blessing of the local Toyota Service dealership (who would have rather sold me one of their own. This one came from a Nissan dealer trade in)
The problem. Two small dings and one 2" scratch shouldn't be hard to get rid of. ($250/each as per my body shop guy.) But I discovered a huge, red ink stain under the floor mat on the rear right passenger side floor. The dealer said they tried everything to get it out. It didn't come out. Someone suggested a local Marine restoration place. Has anyone been able to get these out? Can you "cut" the carpet, and put a new piece in?
The stain bothers me as it covers about 50% of the right rear footwell, although it's hidden by the floormat. Am I being crazy? These well-priced trucks don't appear very frequently here. Would it bother people out there? Should I ask for a price adjustment? Would those rear HUSKY liners solve the issue? Where does one get them?
As usual, thanks for your insightful comments!

Price what it would take to replace the carpet in that area...and reduce your offer on it by that much. Seriously, if the floormat covers it, the only person who wil ever know is the person who cleans it (I'm assuming that'll be you).
Take that extra money and save it for some mods.
Otherwise it sounds pretty cool. Occasionally I regret not shopping around a bit more when I got my Tacoma. It was the first one I test-drove (and it was/is in great shape).

Yep... reduce your offer by the cost of replacement carpet. You can pull the interior and replace the carpet yourself. (honest, its not that bad) If I remember from an earlier post.... they didnt deal w/ you @ all. (and THAT my friend, is BULL!!!)
If you dont get them to drop the cost by that much (new rug) I swear by all thats holy.... I'll come to N.Y. and find you (hell, cant be that tough....) and tease you about the ink stain!!!
I'll do it!
Now, go get 'em!!!
