I found a Tundra V8 for sale on ebay, will that fit in my 88' 4runner? That might be one way to get more power out of my truck.

Anything will fit with a hammer and/or welder.

There will need to be some major modifications. You would also need the tranny from a tundra.
I think I saw a 1st gen with a V8 here. But I can't find it now.

I couldn't find it on Ebay. I'm curious what those bad boys are going for. ORS has harnesses. You'll need the ECU also.

Overseas Tundra's are available with 5 speed manual transmissions. Sometimes I loathe the marketing choices Toyota makes.

V8 Tundra's? Are you sure? Can you verify that?

That would be sweet!

Here is the link to the engine on ebay.
link to my next engine

I would really like to do something like that. I plan to keep my 88' for a while, but would like ot have more traveling power and towing power. An if I am going to get crummy milage anyway, might as well have thte power to go with it.
I can't afford to do the swap now, but if another engine comes up with this price, it would be nice to know that I could.
I will prolly truy to go with a TRD prerunner when I actually get ready to do the swap. It seems like it would be easier. But I like to keep my options open. link to my next engine

That is a STEAL!!! Reserve met at $500? Hope you live near Lubbock TX. Shipping will be a pretty penny. I wonder what the tranny reserve is? It's at 202.50 now. I was quoted $1500 for a Tundra motor only that was incomplete.

I can't remember where I read that, but it is true that V8 Tundra's have 5 speed manual transmissions outside the US. Something like the 5 speed that came with the 22RET engine, which was the R151. I "think" the one behind the V8 Tundra is the H151, but can't swear by it.
