Heh, sounds like when I got the 2 week exhaust install from my trusty dealer. I got a loaner out of it, but still, it's my truck and I wanted the exhaust on in 10 minutes. I have a post on here bout the horror.
As for the S/C took me about 6-7 hours and that was taking my sweet time and cleaning everything.

The 7th was pretty easy to install. I also just installed the URD AIC and that was easy. only about 15 mins and it runs 100 times better.

Ummm... I agree that putting injectors on now would save time later, but the stock ECU won't know how to handle the larger injector.

I'm assuming that we're talking about 305cc injectors - though anything bigger would just exacerbate the problem.

When you try to start the engine, the ECU will be working from a fuel trim table that last saw stocks (285's? I can't remember). Each entry in the table is a "pulse width" that controls how long the duration of a blast of fuel will be on an injector. The longer the pulse width, the longer the duration of fuel delivery thus the more fuel that ends up in the cylinder.

Let's say that the width for start-up was "50%" - that would translate to a certain amount of fuel; but with the 305's in there, that same width would pump a LOT more fuel and, from what people have seen here, the engine won't start.

The ECU can only correct so much, but it needs the engine running to be able to do it (to read from the O2 sensor). If you can't get it started, the ECU probably won't know what to do to get it running.

This is why people _need_ a fuel controller when you move to larger injectors.

I've got a personal dilemma around this exact issue right now.

I run stock injectors and a piggyback computer (the Perfect Power SMT-5). With the stock fuel pump and injectors, I was able to counteract the high RPM lean-out issue. But, I knew that I was maxing out my fuel adjustment range, so I put in a Walbro 190. Now having more pressure in the fuel system, I was able to back off on the duration of the injector pulse, which let me have more adjustment range.

My dilemma is this... I have 305cc injectors that are waiting to be put in. I'd like to put them in to try to get more adjustment range from the system - BUT! If I do, then I know I won't be able to start my truck if the SMT goes south for some reason. I have a bit of a history with the SMT-5 losing it's configuration (this issue was fixed with the later SMT-6 & -7). So, if I have the 305's in, and the SMT flakes out, then I'm dead in the water until I can get to a computer and reconfigure the SMT. There's a jumper that can be used to bypass the SMT, but... that won't help here.

Anyway... that was a long winded way to say ... "Be careful, I don't think the truck will start with 305's in and no piggyback fuel controller to support them".
