Hello to all, new here today and would need some advice. I recently bought a 1999 Tacoma xtracab 4x4 with 360K Km, 2.7l engine with MT. The frame seems to be solid except for where the gas tank bracket on the frame is rusted. I figure it should be an easy fix. My main concern is the driver's side floor pan and rocker panel is rusted through.
My issue is that since most of the Tacomas all rust in the same area (Drivers side) and there are very few at the scrap yards in my neck of Canada that carry Tacomas let alone unrusted drivers side. I've looked up for replacement floor pan at Toyota... 1500$ but only available as full floor pan left and right. My passenger side has no rust so I don't need to touch it. I need your advice on this one. Is there any other floor substitute from other models that I could cut out and replace with? Even from other truck makers which might be easier to find than a 1999 Tacoma. I look forward to your responses. Thx
The frame is solid as well as the body which was my main concern. I've seen many vids on youtube concerning rusted drivers side floors, but in Canada we don't seem to have jobber floor pans available. So it's either making my own from scratch or finding a compatible one from another vehicle other than a Tacoma.
Since you just need that front corner and not farther back, you could try a 4Runner floor pan. I would assume they show the same fate as the tacos though.
Where in the great wide north are you? Can you get close to the border and bring one across without duty?
