so the '90 toy p/u im buying has rust around the outskirts of the fender. is this a problem? can it be fixed? me and a friend were discussing possibly chopping the fenders out bigger and removing the rust that way... good idea?

yea i guess its like that but its easier with a p/u right? because i dont have to seal the whole thing up?

 

IMO, if you are going to cut on it you'll leave exposed bare metal, so seal it up somehow, whether you are welding up a gap or just putting some seal sealer on it or just painting. It just depends on what you are doing. Mine will be just like the link I gave you. And I guess it depends if you are doing the front or the rear. My front fenders will have to have the tabs for the fender lining welded back on and the fender lining modified. Do it right so it just doesn't rust again!
