is there something that i need to have trimmed on my front end? something is rubbing on my shocks and it looks like it will eventually destroy the shock. is this something to worry about or just something i need to deal with?

up front im running bjs's and ome shocks. im thinking it has to do with the bjs's.

 

The only thing that could be rubbing on your shocks is your tires, unless you're leaving something out, so why don't you try some wheel spacers ?? They will resolve any rubbing issues.

 

When you installed the BJ spacers did you grind down the uca? If not then there is your problem.

 

Please define "uca"... is that upper control arm ??

I don't think the tires can really rub on the shocks up front.

 

Check to see if your shocks are hitting the mount for the lower bump stop. After I installed my ball joint spacers I had to trim the mount to keep my shocks from rubbing when the suspension is extended.

ok i just recently did the bj spacers and found the same problem with my shocks and what its rubbing on is the lower bumpstop. its only when its flexed out some but its the metal rim that the bumpstop is connected to and it has dented in my shock but i don't think its enough to damage the inside or eventually destroy it. i may grind that lip down a little but i bet thats the same thing thats happening to yours. hope this helps some

 

Ok sorry for bringing this back from the dead. I just installed BJ spacers on my 86 4runner and was about to put my new skyjacker hydro shocks in when I noticed that when at full droop my lower bump stop hits my shock. My question is if I should go out and try to find a shock with a smaller diameter or if I should just grind the steel rim that the bump stop mounts to? Luckily I installed the BJ spacers while I'm pulled the motor to rebuilt it, so the truck is at full droop.

For anyone running BJ Spacers I'd jack up your suspenion and see if your bump stops are hitting your shocks. Thanks
