Hey Guys, I'm new here so forgive me if I miss anything, I have a 2002 limited 4runner with the 3.4 v6 and 250k. Now my driveshaft fell out on the highway, but I disconnected it and drove home in 4hi with the diff lock on. On the way back I stopped at a gas station and turned it off, when I turned it back on, it idled extremely rough with random dips in RPM, just for it to hop back up to normal idle, that along with the CEL coming on. Any ideas are welcome, spark plugs and vacuum are both fine.

 

Have you gotten the codes read out? It would help us a lot to know what they are. Worst case scenario, almost every "brand name" auto parts store will bring their code reader out and read them out for you.

In addition to spark plugs themselves, the wires feeding them are a possibility, and so are the ignition coils. Again, just a possibility.

Most important thing to do to help us help you, though, is get those code(s) read out so we can troubleshoot them, and get an idea what's going on. Let the ECU tell you where the trouble probably lies.
