Replacing Starter with TRD headers?

I just read the write-up on replacing the starter and HaveBlue had to remove his Edelbrock headers but he said the OEMs don't have to be removed. Anyone know if the TRD headers have to be removed? Also I heard there is an option of taking the solenoid off to wiggle them through separately so you don't have to remove the headers. Has anyone tried this? I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to dive into this or just have the shop do it...

I am sure they are different, but I can get the starter out "easily" with my Downey headers on the 3.4.

Mind you, I do have a SAS so none of the IFS stuff is in the way.

In regards to header clearance and bolt access I have no issues.

I read the same article, and others which said there were many clearence issues with removing the starter.

Turned out I didn't have to remove anything! I thought it was somewhat easy to remove... its only two bolts. Just go ahead and soak stuff down with PB blaster now, then when you want to take things off, it should be a lot easier.

Why would you want to replace your starter with a set of headers?

I don't see why everyone takes the time/risk by taking off your headers or exhaust manifold to remove the starter when you can simply remove the front cv axle and remove the starter through the lower a-arm gap. Trust me, I've done it for both my 4runner's i've owned and it worked just fine.

I had to replace the starter on my '00 Taco about 2 months after my TRD headers were installed. I didn't have to fully remove the header but I did have to loosen the part that wraps around the starter. It wasn't too much of a hassle but I think mine are slightly different from the 4Runners.
