so the 4runner has 117k on it with stock shocks, a 3" revtek and 2" 4crawler lift wth 33" maxxis mudders on it. at highway speeds theres a pretty big vibration problem, and im almost positive its due to the shocks.

the question arises as to which shocks to put in. as ive read on here, and looked around at stores, i think theres a few choices ive narrowed it to:
-bilsteins
-ome
-?

the ? is for anything anyone here suggests. ride comfort isnt an issue; i do wheel it quite often, so its seeing a good amount of the offroad (lots of trails with hills and testing the suspension quite a bit). so obviously im looking for something very strong and durable for offroad. are there any shocks that can give me any more lift than what ive got? price isnt really an object. thanks for any input.

 

OME are the best - bar none.

No, the springs (or spacers) give you the lift not the shocks.

I second that... I have the OME N86 and it rides great.

get a body lift from 4crawler.com - 1", 1.5", 2"...

 

I really like my Bilstein 5150 resivoir shocks. But then again those take some very minor modifications to install.



For bolt on shocks, the Old Man Emu seem to be the best and here is why. The front shock has a huge massive shaft like the Sway-A-Way or other high end coil-overs. The rear shock is the longest you can run without destroying your rear sway bar or completely impacting your gas tank on full drivers side stuff.

FWIW, the HD OME shocks are softer than your stock shocks, so what ever you do, get the Heavy Duty models, they are not really heavy duty in the sence you would think.

 

yea i got the 2" from 4crawler. i think im going to go with the ome since theyre just bolt on and ive heard great things about them. i was pretty sure no shock could give me any lift, i just was on the 4wheelparts site, and they had these rancho shocks that said "these shocks do not raise or lower your vehicle" so i figured there might be some out there that do. thanks for the input and not bashing me on that thought...im only 17

 

in the front, if the spring perch is higher on the shock base, then it could give you a lift, but that's the only way...

 

well i think im just going to order the ome shocks front and rear. up front im going to go with the n91s and in the back the n86. hopefully it will be an easy install.
