Question removing 03 radio and door panel

What's up eveyone, I'm looking to take out my radio on my 03 runner and install an aftermarket radio. If anyone has done this yet and knows exactly how to remove the old one, i would appreciate any info. Also i removed the door panels partially, but there seems to be something holding the top portion of it on. I'm a liitle reluctant to force it off. Is it just held on by clips or are there screws too? I tried different forums, but no one seems to know. I've been reading around and it seems that you guys know everything about runners, so hopefully you can help!!! Thanxxx

impulsebrklyn has done this, and he's got a good write up on his site.

which aftermarket headunit are you getting? I am still having hard time deciding. It's either an alpine 7894, 7998 or clarion 835mp, or maybe an Eclipse.

I have the Pioneer AVH-p7500DVD(waiting to be installed), 2 diamond audio M6 component sets and a 4 channel ppi 480 amp. My only problem is with the metra kits. I'm looking for one were i can mount the head unit on the bottom portion of the double din(pocket on the top). If the unit is on the top portion i think the screen is going to be to high over the dash. It might look pretty stupid!

have you tried checking out american international? they also sell din kits (single din - not sure about double).

www.americaninternational.net
its not listed but you can call them up and they should have em. never thought about flipping it but that is an idea. I'm thinking of tryin to find someone w/ a double din insert instead so i can add a cb or scanner or something in there... hmmm
