How much would it cost to rebuild my tranny? any estimates?

 

I am getting rumors on my 4x4 tranny upwards of a thousand bucks....put a match to it instead..it'll cost you less grief

 

My friend was quoted $1200 to rebuild his 94 4x4 auto tranny. We've been looking for a used one for 8 months now.

 

I'm having my 91 4Runner (5 speed) looked at tomorrow. It's leaking oil and either the input bearing or the output bearing is going. I'll let you know what they give me for an estimate.

 

Took mine in. The cluster gear was fried and the input shaft and main shafts were both smoked. Have to get a new tranny. Parts and labor would cost more than buying a new one with labor. So the grand total for a new tranny and labor is: $2400.

 

I had mine rebuilt by Marlin Crawler and they did the install. I'll have to look at the bill but I believe it was around 2K installed. I also had him put in a new clutch and lower first gear while he was at it.
