rebuilt head

I bought a 96 toyota tacoma 4x4 withg a 2.7...it had a miss at idle and in 5th gear. i had a mechanic take the head off, it had a bad exaust valve in #3 cylender..ok np had the new vlave installed and had the head redone. Mechanic put it all back together in time, gettin fire, has complession, but will not start...i have tried everything...help

If you are getting spark, and you have compression... The remaining 2 things you need are air and fuel.

Unless the timing is off and you aren't getting spark when you need it.

If a mechanic did the work, why hasn't the mechanic fixed it?

he has been tryin...for 2 weeks. I have given up on the guy...either the timing mark on the harmonic balancer is off the timing mark on the crank gear...or somehow the machinist messed up the valve clearances...it turns over smooth with no spudders or backfires...but wont hit at all
