Rear Window/Wiper problem need help
Here is the problems. Please help if you can.
1. I CANNOT roll the rear window up/down from the switch on the dash. I CAN roll the rear window down with the remote. I CAN roll the rear window up and down with the key in the back door. The window lock is off .
2. The rear wiper will not work at all. the washer work and the defrost works but the rear wiper will not move
Please tell me what you think.

On my 2000 4runner I had a simlar problem. I had an intermitant rear window and my back cargo light would dim to off after closing the hatch. I found a few broken wires inside the rubber covered wire loom that connects the hatch to the body. There is, or should I say was, a hard plastic restraint on the wires. I removed it, and did not put it back on, and checked the wires and found some broken wires. I fixed them and all is good. This was a few years ago and have had no problems. The wires have no problem keeping from being pinched without the plastic keeper. I believe that the keeper was putting a lot of strain on the wires. I would start there.

Like Gerdo said, start by looking for broken wires under the rubber boot that is between the body and the hatch, at the top. Can't miss it. It's easy to move out of the way enough to see what's what. Contrary to his solution I did not remove the plastic wire retainer but I did have to repair a few wires. Let us know.
