Rear Washer pump blows fuse

Hi there,

Everytime I try to activate the rear wiper washer fluid, nothing happens and then my wipers don't work. After 2 times I figured out that this blows the wiper fuse.

Any ideas of what to check etc?

Thanks

Marty

Looks like the washer pump is on the same circuit as the wipers and either
a: the pump is seized and blowing the fuse or
b: there is a short in the wiring, probably a bare wire touching ground.

To check the pump connect some wires from the battery directly to the pump and see if it runs. If it doesn't disconnect the wires quickly before they melt.
If it's a short in the wiring that could be lots of fun to find, a wiring diagram would probably help

Thanks for the help.

Where is the pump located? Is it in the tailgate?

Pumps are usually located right beside or under the reservoirs. On my '93 both pumps are under the washer reservoir, yours looks newer so I'm not sure. If you have one combined reservoir for both washers then it's probably the same.
