rear sun deflector?

Sloan that is a good price for a new one from TRD of Dallas-however the wind deflector does not include the mounting hardware and stanchions-the black plastic pieces that lift it away from the liftgate
I have a template from Jacques-the superb parts guy of TRD Dallas for the placement of the threaded inserts into the rear liftgate. That is a separate Toyota part number-sorry no I do not know what it is.
I am hesitant myself to drill holes in my liftgate-so I have a shop lined up to do the work. If you need the template just send me a private message. It has been on my "to get done list" for almost a year now....
Yes it does help the wind to draft down the back window so that loose dirt is blown away and moisture will tend to dry itself out.

no longer sold at the dealership
Correct Jason B. -you would have to buy the entire "kit"-and 3rd gen deflector kits are no longer available at my local dealerships.
Best to just buy one complete at a junkyard. Irbis Off Road has a number of these also stockpiled.

I disagree, the spoiler actually does a decent job of forcing the exhaust fumes away from the vehicle when the rear window is open. When I'm driving 0-20 MPH it doesn't do anything but anything above 25-30 ish MPH it works excellent at keeping the fumes from entering the window.

BS.
As a former owner of a 1st gen (1988) that did not have this feature, I can assure you that the spoiler or whatever you want to call it is quite effective at reducing dust buildup on the back window. There is a huge difference with my new runner that has it. I haven't been through a winter with it yet, but I bet the spoiler will also help keep snow from packing on there as well. And then there is the aforementioned exhaust fume issue.

There are a total of 4 holes I believe.
I'm not exactly sure how the brackets mount but if you look at the pic that Wabbit posted you can see the 4 screws in the wing itself.
I would imagine there are two per bracket also.
Shouldn't be all that hard.
Go to your local Toyota dealership and get a print out of the exploded view they have.
Or, if you PM me your VIN number I can get one from my dealership and fax it to you or .pdf it and email it.
