rear licence plate mod

Has anyone modified the rear plastic piece that surrounds the rear license plate. Is there a mod to make it look better

you can paint it to match your body or get the 2002 model ones with chrome surround on the plastic piece.

It would probably be cheaper to paint it then ordering the chrome piece from the dealer.
