Rear latch in lock position, can't close door.. Help

I was moving some long pipes and had to tied down the rear door and I accidentally pushed the latch to the lock position. Now I can not pull the latch to the open position so I can close the rear door. Anyone knows how I can get the latch to open up? Thanks

How about pulling the rear handle (pull down the tailgate, but don't close the whole way to do this).

That should release it.

find the latches on both sides and with a screwdriver just pop the pieces that lock back out. it worked on my runner.

As Cebby suggested, I squeezed the handle and was able to pull the latch open with my fingers and then able to close the door. Thanks again.
