my new toy

I told my wife I was going to a tent sale to "look around" and something followed me home.

What goes in here (Below)

What good is this space for?(below)

But when she saw it she told me it was HER 4Runner and MINE was the 87. Littlt does she know what I have in mind for "her" 4Runner .

The first space, I don't use. The second space is good for junk like keys, spare batteries for my GPS unit, gum, etc.

Under the pass rear seat, make sure your jack extends fully, mine didn't. I'm glad I checked mine while cleaning, I've never had to use it but make sure it works just in case.

Not a rear diff lock, it's called a center diff lock. thought it was a rear diff lock at first but then I read this thread

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f120/just-bought-02-4runner-what-button-91285/

Still unsure of how good it will be. We'll just have to take it out and find out.

that button you're seeing is probably the "center diff lock" instead of the rear e-locker if it's '00-'02. The buttons are in the same spot. I know I've got the center diff lock on my '02.

Oh and that 1st storage space was originally for an emergency roadside kit. So when you pulled off the side of the road to change a tire or what not, you could break this kit out that had an orange cone to place at one corner of your vehicle and it also had a few other supplies in it.

I have not been able to locate one of these "kits", but I've seen pics of them in the storage spot in 4Rs. They fit perfectly.

Oh yeah, that storage spot up front is awkward. It usually stays empty for me.

Sweet looking truck man. In that side pocket I keep jumpercables, some tiedowns and a liter of oil. The front one, I usually keep my wallet in there, but ends up getting packed full of pens and recipts. What are those plastic things on the back of your rear seats?

LOL Something like that will be happening to me on a trip to SC in about a month...

You'll be able to go "out for some groceries" and come back with a lift, bigger tires... She'll never notice!

very nice ride BTW, I dig the leather.

yeah I'm gonna put a bunch of survival stuff in there.

Those plastic things cover the LATCH anchors, for child seats. We have a 5 year old, and twins on the way any day now. Thats why we got the second 4runner. We have a first Gen too but there's no way she's putting to car seats in there evry time she has to go to the store.

Thats pretty cool. On my 99, I have the baby seat anchored to one of the cargo hooks in the back. Not just an offroader any more, now its a family vehical. Speaking of family. I had to sit in the back seat of a second gen for many cross-canada trips. When i bought the third gen, i was more than amazed with the amount of leg space in the back!!! Congrads on the purchase!!

Funny you mention that. We anchor our 5 year olds to that same place in our 1st GEN. Yeah about leg room I rode in the back seat and I was suprised how much room there was, and with my daughter's car seat in the middle.

1st mods probb on wednsday! Can't wait!

Nice pick up. Looks just like mine, except you don't have the ghetto-looking gold emblems (I need to pick up some chrome/black ones )
