Hey, I just got a great 91 SR5, I want to customize it, where should I start? I am thinking about shocks to lift the rear end a little. I also need a brush gaurd and winch, what is the best and most affordable? Any info will help, Thanks

 

shocks do not lift the rear, but rather coil springs do. you could get some from downey (they are in the vendor section here at yotatech) many people have done that, and have cured the rear end sag. also, if you are thinking about getting a winch, you might want to consider a brand new bumper like an ARB or TJM or even a custom one. brushgaurds are pretty much cosmetic and i do not think they could handle the load of a winch.

You could also put in some OME shocks and springs. I put the heavy ones in my '01 4runner.

Although I have WAAG grille, rear bumper, rear tail light guards - practically everyone on here will tell you to go ARB and WARN for a winch.

I have neither so I can't really help you much on that

Talk w/ Corey about his set-up. I seem to remember him saying he eventually had to get new TB's. I guess the weight of the winch and ARB were making his rig steer funny and "bob" on the road.

 

With the additional weight of the bumber and the winch, you'll want to get some aftermarket torsion bars--they're about $50 a piece for Sway-A-Ways. Depending on what kind of rear coils you get, you may find that you'll need new tb's anyway to get the front level with the rear.

Although the install can be a bit tricky, it's not difficult and it's not that expensive considering other mods! SAW tb's will give you a stiffer ride.
