Rear disk brake

Many moons back, while doing research on one of the jeep sites I happened accross a bloke who had done a rear disk brake conversion. This was done to a toyota axle that came standard with drums.
He had used a front axle ball knuckle section, cut away all the meat, reversed and bolted onto the rear axles, allowing him to use the standard toyota calipers, rotors etc.
Has anyone come accross something similar, or another home mod that i can do to add disks on my rear axle

Rear Disc

All Pro Offroad makes a Rear Disc brake conversion kit, and has a review on the instillation and quality. Check it out at allprooffroad.com

Front Range Off Road Fab has a rear full floating axle/rear disc brake swap kit for like $699. It requires but does not include front locking hubs (79-85) and front brake calipers from an early Supra as well. Check it out:

This is on my long list of future mods. If I ever get to it, only time will tell.

Drop a PM to "Shane" here on the forum. I'm pretty sure I saw disc brakes on the back end of his rig.

Some pics of mine here, uses REAR calipers from an early Celica Supra. Brian makes another version that uses front pickup calipers if you don't need a parking brake.

Thanks shane ,

i had a look at the pics and that is what i'm thinking of, problem is though it will cost me an arm and leg to import to S.A with the current exchange rate.
I'll check to see if i can get something similar machined at a local shop.
Does anyone know of toyota calipers that have a mechanical linkage that can be used for handbrake. I the Nissan Skyline has this, but would like as far as possible to keep it toyota.
