rear coolant lines rusted out
So today right before going on a 3 hour long round trip drive my coolant lines for the rear heater decided to take a crap on me. I noticed they were pretty rusty a few weeks ago but didn't realize how bad they were. When I took them out, they pretty much disintegrated with a light pulling.

When I went to pull the rear heater lines out of my parts 4Runner I saw they were almost rusted through on a part of the line so I gave up the idea of using those lines. For the time being, I just ran a piece of tube connecting the fittings for the rear heater.

Can I just replace the metal lines with black coolant hose and some couplings and be done with it? What was the purpose of the metal lines in the first place?

Or you can just plug them up. I just threw that piece of coolant line on there cause I was pressed for time and it was already attached. All I had to do was bend it around and plug it in.
