Rear brakes

went off-roading today, drove through some sand and water. now my rear brakes are gone, i think. the e-brake comes all the way to the top and doesnt ever tighten. it usually takes 2-3 clicks for the e-brake to engage.

it takes a lot more push in the pedal to slow me down, prob b/c the rear brakes dont work.

im hoping a fitting or hose broke, but im not a brake nerd at all, i know nada.

anyone have any tips or suggestion for a laymen?

WTF?

it sounds like you need to pull your brake drums and wash the sand or mud out then readjust the the brakes. it gets packed in there. sand is real abrasive and will chew your shoes away when you drive home and it's grinding between the shoes and drum. i have to do this every time i go offroading with the club i'm a member of when we go offroading somewhere there is alot of mud or sand. if you line or hose broke or a loose fitting you would not have any brakes at all. hopes this helps
