rear axle ?'s

Are the rear axles in the tacomas the same as the 4runners?If so,why couldn't you use the rear disc brakes off of the 4runner and make them work on a tacoma.I've just been trying to come up with better ways to stop the tacomas with bigger tires and 4 wheel disc would help. The disc would also not fill up with mud and water like the drums.I also wondered if anyone has tried to use the 4runners front calipers with more pistons?

Since this is in this forum, I'll assume you're referring to the 3rd gen. 4Runner.

They have rear drums, just like the 95.5-04 Tacoma's.

axles might be different not sure. i know 4runners have coils in the rear and tacos have leafs. not sure if that matters. but the mounts on it may be different
