RE: Lug nuts on Aftermarket Alloys
I have the factory alloys which use the shank type lug nut and steel wheels which use the acorn(bevel) type. I also am looking at some aftermarket alloys, but the lug holes are too small for the Toyota shanks. I have always thought that was not a good thing to use the acorn style lugs on alloys since the stress would be concentrated more and might cause cracking. Is anyone running alloys with the acorn style lug nuts? Also, has anyone found a smaller shank type nut that will fit the Toyota lugs? Thanks.

i switched from factory steels to alloys on my '92 4runner and had to purchase new shank lugnuts to fit, tire shop recommended not to re-use the acorn type. however, there are universal lugnuts that will fit it, i ended up having to buy mine through the dealer because no auto parts store in town had them in stock, they ran me like $70! not sure of the universal part #, but like mentioned before, you could look it up. save yourself some dough.

Thanks for the input. I had no idea they made so many style of lug nuts. Think have found some with the taper AND the shank at Ziggurat, that is if the dimensions are right.
