re-gear question

I did a search but I am not really finding any threads on the reason I want to regear. I have an '01 4runner V6 auto lifted w/ 33's. I drive alot on the tollways and freeways around here and I feel like I am a little too sluggish merging into traffic. I would like better overall acceleration out of my truck and I was considering replacing my 4.10's with 4.88's. My question is, would doing so increase my acceleration enough to make it worth it? Also, I am not concerned about towing, off roading capabilities, or top speed.

4.56 manual 4.88 auto.

It's a truck not a speed racer. It's not fast, but regearing will help.

Scuba is right. I have the setup you're asking about (mine's auto too) and I love it. 4.56s might not be noticeable enough to be worth all that $$. I can tell you I would have definitely been dissapointed with 4.56s. I don't hit 3K rpm in overdrive until 80 miles per hour so 4.88s are fine for the fast lane too.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. I am not trying to be a speed racer....I just want to be able to merge into traffic safely with all the dumb a$$ drivers we have around here. I had thought about a supercharger for a while, but I am not really concerned with anything but my low end power. Thanks for the heads up brian, but my truck never hits 80mph, I feel like 75 is pushing it....
