rattle somewhere inside the steering?

i got a 97 tacoma NOt sr5,prerunner,or trd, 3"bodylift 30"tires

Well its not a major deal but there seems to be a rattle that sounds like its coming from somwhere inside the steering column. The steering wheel is solid, and its not like its vibrating or anything its just an annoying little rattle.
ANY IDEAS???

by the way im planning on getting an alignment, balance, and new shocks in a couple of days.

Hope i can fix it

WHen does it do it? I get a rattle somewhere in the front of mine when its cold outside. I think it could be in the column too.

If you rock the steering wheel back and forth with the engine off do you here it? If so it could be: outer tierods, inner tierods or wornout steering rack. Have someone rock the steering wheel while you are under the front and listen for the noise. Once you here the noise and hear where it is coming from then put your hand on the parts and feel the noise. You should also be able to muffle the noise with your hand. If it feels like it is coming from the end of the rack/innertie end, remove the band that holds the rack boot and rock again. If it is the rack you will see the rack end move up and down (BAD) (The boot band can be replaced with a Cable Tie.

I have the same issue... My steering shaft contacts where the shaft enters the inside of the vehicle. Had to do some trimming and pounding of the wall and cover piece... I still have a slight vibration still...

I forgot to add, that when it's really cold outside (teens) I can feel it in the floor.
