A 4Runner on a tow truck, it's not too often we see photos like this around these parts



My distributor crapped out on my halfway to Skagway Alaska this past weekend, luckily a friend of mine is a member of CAA so the tow was free! Saved me a good chunk of cash there.

For those curious, my new house is going great, but the new garage is just a bit too small for the truck!



The hood ALLLLMOST goes all the way up, but not quite.

Been a busy month fixing all these 15 year old parts that are all deciding to die at the same time. Gotta love it

looks like there might be enough room to replace that garage door with one that is one panel taller, thereby giving you enough room to get your rig inside. you would have to modify the current opening, that would be easy for a handy guy like yourself. just a thought.

Reminds me of the day I bought my 4Runner! (damn fuel pump)

 

The garage framing for the roof is the same height, so it would actually be alot of work to end up getting the truck into the garage. I wish it was as easy as making the entrance bigger though

(The brown building is just the garage, not the house/garage for those curious)

Skagway is about 230km from here.

I just had the matching wheel for the spare tire thrown on today. The stock one finally had to go!

 

Yea, doesn't even look like the garage would fit if it was sock hight with the rack on, hehe. My runner has seen the back side of a tow truck also when one of my blets broke. "A little cracking is ok, replace it if it gets much worse than that." Woopseee.

Have spare stock distributor if you need one. That looks like how my runner fits in the garage. ha.

Dude, if that building is your whole garage that rocks! Looks like you could set-up a little mini sports bar in there. Then you could have a wrench party and a superbowl party all at once! SWEET!

damn, you gotta hate when that happens! i guess the rafters/trusses intrude more than the current opening suggests.

maybe you could have a modding weekend to change the location of the door and install a higher one! ok, maybe do it over two weekends, that is a lot of work.

Godzilla, beat me to it. I had the same suggestion in mind. That's my favourite colour for the second gens. There is one for sale here in town just like it. I can't really afford two runners at the moment unfortenately.

 

Yeah, that is a rare picture. I've never seen a Toyota tow a towtruck like that before. That towtruck must be a Ford. Good thing your Runner is 4WD.

 

Garage? You don't need no steenkin' garage...Get yourself an Army surplus GP small or medium tent, put a couple of wood stoves in it and you have an instant garage. Shoot, with the medium, you could make half of it the house and save yourself some dough for more mods.

The ground in the garage is all just dirt.

 

then start digging man! main thing is that the garage door track will allow room for another panel to go fully in. if it cant, you can always have a flip up panel that comes up off the ground to meet the rest of the panels.

 

It will have to be a job for when the ground isn't rock solid though

Damn winter won't leave soon enough.
