Having a prob with my tranny. While shifting normally from 2nd to 3rd, it's grinding a lifting upon entry into 3rd. If I hesitate a tad in neutral between the shift from 2nd to 3rd it won't grind. Would this possibly be the synchro for 3rd fixing to give up the ghost? Just trying to get an idea of what maybe to come so I can nip it in the bud and order a reman before it happens.

Rig is a 1998 SR5 4Runner 4x4 V6-3.4L 5spd.

Sounds like the Syncro, because when you pause for that one second you are allowing the gears sync, and mesh together.
