R.I.P black wheels, R.I.P
That's right guys, its a sad day indeed. For a little more background, check out this thread. Basically, Discount Tire was unable to balance my new black wheels, and after a little bickering I got them to give me a refund.
I bought my wheels back from oscarz here in Yotatech. He had the wheels professionally polished after I sold them to him a while back, but he was unable to use the wheels due to caliper clearance issues.
Anyway, here is a pic of the old OEM wheels, now polished and back on the rig:
I must say, I immediately noticed an "increase" in performance over the black steel wheels. They must have been a lot heavier (duh!). I guess that whole "moment of intertia" thing from physics class really does make sense.
Anyway, I am kind of sad, so if you feel like blowing some sunshine this direction, please do. I mean they dont look that bad, right?
I'll miss you guys (the wheels)...lol.

I think it was the type of black rockcrawlers you got. I got the Tech 1s and have 285 MT/Rs on them and once I got them Hunter road force balanced and hand tightened on the hub, smooth as glass, even at 100 mph. I got them at 4wheelparts.com for about $50 a rim I think. So you might try them in the future if you just can't live without the black rims...
I'll cry with you...but not for long!

I am also running TECH 1's but I don't run "smooth as glass" but I don't vibrate either. At least not the magnitude that you described.
Care to take a ride to analyze?

They assured me that steel wheels would never be "just right" on a Toyota. Anyway, I was tired of dealing with the vibration. It was so bad, that the passenger seat was shaking like one of those beds at a cheap motel.

You asked for it!
Was it worth it going back to stock, ride wise?
How much smoother are you running now compared to before with the bkack rims?
Is it really significant?
