Sorry, FS8459. I was just being silly. Personally, I wouldn't change tire size like that. Other than verifying that the tires would fit your existing rims and what the impact on your speedometer would be, I suppose you could. You probably should ask if you need to do some gear changes. I don't have the experience to answer that. Just be aware that smaller tires have to rotate more to cover the same distance that a larger tire does. That introduces a bunch of concerns about the design of the drive train, suspension, etc. which is based, presumably, on the existing tire size.

before you change tire size, try increasing the air pressure in your frt tires and make sure your p/s belt is tight and you have enough p/s fluid.

seriously, has any of you with the 3rd Gen 4runner downgrade your tire size from 265 to 225 without any problem ? I know the speedometer will read different due to smaller tire size. but be aware that all 2WD 3rd Gen come with 225 as factory size.

Will this affect your odometer? If you go down in tire size will you rack up more mileage on the odo than you're actually traveling?

Of course. Roughly 10% in this case. Speedo will read 50 at 45, 100 at 90.

FS, remember that a 225 4Runner is geared differently andI believe has a different suspension than one with 265's So it is not a simple as changing tires. PS your steering feel will probably not change. Remember the 4Runner is a somewhat large vehicle.
By the way, have you tried changing the steering stabilizer. A beefier one like OME would help alot.
