Quick question about the OEM Bug Deflector

Quick question about the OEM Bug Deflector

For you guys with the Toyota bug deflector, can you please take a look underneath the deflector, the part that curves underneath the front of the hood, and see if there are a few long holes/slits there? Cuz I have a few slits that are taped up, I'm not sure if they're supposed to be open or not. Quick and easy question. Thanks.

Mine's a (dirty) '91, but I'd guess the OEM bug deflector is of a similar design. I have the slits and they aren't taped up. I installed the bug shield and didn't remove tape from the holes. I believe they are for drainage.

My OEM hood deflector looks the same as that one on my 3rd gen.
