quick question

what is the shift lock button for thats in front of my automatic tranny shift lever?

If for some reason, like the button on the shifter not working, or the brake pedal release, then you can use a screwdriver to pry up on that shift lock to get it in or out of gear. At least that what it says in my owner's manual.

Yep, thats what it is for. Had to use it a few weeks ago. When I pried the cap off it shot out and is now lost So hold onto it why you remove it.
