Why of course! We really need MORE government interference in our lives because there just isn't enough already, in fact, there can NEVER BE ENOUGH! Great idea! 
If you prefer a manual tranny, you should get what makes you happy. For 4 cyl engines and V6s w/ modest power I think a manual is much better. My yota has one and I like it.
Ultimately you have to be happy with it!
