I love having a 5spd. You do feel like you are in more control of the vehicle when driving. Stop and go traffic isn't that fun sometimes, but for the most part 5spd is the way to go.

i love my 5spd, but the ONLY argument i PERSONALLY have for wanting an auto is for some offroading. generally my 5spd is great offroad and the tranny braking is great, but when im up against a ledge, with my stock t-case gearing and all i either have to try to back up and get a running start (not always possible) or burn up my clutch feathering it so i can get up that ledge. if i had lower crawler gears that wouldnt be an issue. i feel an auto in that particular case would be much easier to use.

as someone here who drinks a beer in one hand, picks my nose with the
other, fumble my obdII scanner with my foot, and steer with my knee....auto is the way to go

My clutch cost me about $125 to replace the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing.

I have all my own tools, floor jacks, and 6 ton jack stands.

How much is a manual swap going to run over all? I think when my auto kicks the bucket or I run into som excess cash, I will do the swap.

I will not drive a slush box. Period. I loved them until I drove a stick. I don't care If i drive through town, on hills, I'd still take stick over automatic. My motorhome has a automatic 22re, gutless with a capital LESS. Every time I drive it I wish it was a stick.

One exception would be if you are disabled like my Grandpa is and needs an automatic.

Nicely done ozzie !! kudos to you.

My 97 runner has 205K miles and the original clutch. 3.4 with a 5spd. I take her on the beach and would not trade that 5spd for an auto no matter what I was offered. 2nd and 3rd gear are a blast with lots of torque.

Go for the manual!! Autos are for soccer moms...

5 spd matched with a super charger!....and fuel mods, is the only way to set one of these rides up...IMHO...a blast to drive daily with 275 tires.

Why of course! We really need MORE government interference in our lives because there just isn't enough already, in fact, there can NEVER BE ENOUGH! Great idea!

If you prefer a manual tranny, you should get what makes you happy. For 4 cyl engines and V6s w/ modest power I think a manual is much better. My yota has one and I like it.

Ultimately you have to be happy with it!

You'll have to excuse me if I don't take your word for it.

I would hesitate to say an auto is faster or slower than a manual.

I will say it an auto is more consistent that a manual.

Woman would drag race her suburban every weekend in stock class.

She won every weekend also. Consistency was her game. She knew what times the truck would run and she had it pegged every time. End of season, she took the trophy home.

Consistent. All it was. Nothing fancy, just a normal Suburban that Mrs Soccer mom drove everyday.
