Question about oil changes

I was gone for 3 months and my truck was sitting in the garage the whole time. my dad started it up about once a week and let it run for about 10 minutes. i changed my oil about 500 miles before i went to boot camp. now its suggested to change your oil every 3 months or 3000 miles. should i change mine since its been sitting in my truck for 3 months?

also, the gas is 3 months. my truck runs fine, but should i get some octane booster? i have about 1/3 a tank

any other precautions i should take for a truck that sat (was only driven once in those 3 months and only for 3/4 a mile.)

any suggestions? comments?

first off...
Welcome Back!

i think the oil in the truck should be fine, as long as ur dad kept it running every once in a while. i would also say the gas should still be ok also. as long as u dont experience any knocking or pinging, u should be good to go.

i would change the oil just because of 3 months/3000 miles rule, thats what i follow, as far as the gas, you should be fine. i've had my truck sitting around for a year, and the mechanic said if i was worried about it, top it off with some high octane gas and run that thru.

3,000 or 3 months of actual car use... letting it run for 10 minutes once a week aint gonna do ˟˟˟˟ to the oil... no worries bro.. every 3,000 miles.. the gas i'd def add some new gas and take a few hard turns to shake it up a bit

I change mine every 100 hours of engine runtime. This works out to about 2500 miles for the 4Runner, don't pay any attention to calendar time. For the truck, it usually just gets changed every spring before wheeling season, maybe 1000 miles if I drive it a lot. If the engine is just sittting, there is nothing that can really go wrong with th oil. The 3 months spec is designed to catch the vehicles that go on a lot of short trips and may take si-x months or more to get to 3000 miles.
