question about 4WD on a 1995 4runner

Hey guys, this is my first post but hopefully its not something thats on the site already, I tried searching for the answer myself but couldn't find out. Okay I have a 1995 4runner SR5 4WD, 5spd, V6 and I wanted to know if the four wheel drive on my 4runner is a full time 4wd system or a part time 4wd system. The reason I'm asking this is because if its a full time i can use it anytime? Thanks for the info.

Welcome.

Hope that you enjoy this site as much as everyone else here does. This is the best site on the net for toyota owners.

The 4 wheel drive system on the 1995 4 runner is a part-time system. It should only be used off-road or on slippery surfaces.
Dry pavement use may cause severe damage to the drivetrain.

An occasional use in straight line without turning left or right, once a month, if you never go off-road, is okay to keep the system lubed and let's you know that it's working.if you never go off-road

Have fun and watch your wallet, you'll be modding soon.
