Put my DP on my Kennesaw Mountain Accessories rear bumper last night!

I couldn't agree more, I didn't mind paying b/c it's exactly what I wanted. However the service promised vs the service delivered wasn't even close. I'm thinking of starting a claim with Paypal just to get the ball rolling just in case and cancelling it if all goes well. I'm thinking I'll wait until I get it on and see how it goes though. Any kinds of major adjusting to it and I'm pulling the trigger on the claim and I won't let it go this time. This is a last resort though, I try not to whine and moan but when I feel I've been wronged (still to be determined) I have no problems involving as many people as it takes for me to feel right about it.

I agree. I as well didn't hesitate to pay for it because like you said, It's exactly what I was looking for. terminator I would definetly wait until you get it on and see if anything needs changed. I had to modify mine. I thought about calling them up and seeing what's up but in the end it was quicker and easier and a hell of a lot smaller headache than it would have been to send it back or try to get it fixed.

you will wait and wait and be told we will finish it next week. seen stated on other sites "ours bumpers are cheaper because you get what you pay for" i have installed 2 so far and tommorrow will be the third. ordered in sept, got them in feb. unacceptable and no refunds, this was a $1900 order! gap under headlight had to be 1.5 inches to close the hood on a dakota. not great fit clearly. but product is made of quality steel. finish of welds are good. walmart has better paint plus they wrapped it before the paint was dry so it has that look, you know the one, like someone touched it. one bumper is made wrong so the plasma cutter will be fed. yet they insist it was made right (i thought the customer is always right?). maybe their tape measure is different then mine, damn matco tools. just not how i would handle business, and i have been in business for years. maybe they have turned around in the last 2 months.....so anyway if you are looking for reasons to keep your rig off the trail buy from ken mountain, if half a year is a good wait, wonderful. i built my black truck in 5 dedicated weeks. i may spend a week building a rear bumper. life is too short to deal with a company with such slow returns. i would be sick of hearing from customers who are tired of waiting. is this shop using new down payments to pay for earlier orders, maybe. sounds like the end of the trail. just my 2 cents.

My turn around wasn't as bad as some of these guys, 6 months is crazy but if it's what you want and know that going in then so be it I guess. I had to put 50% down to start, the other half due on completion. I knew it had a cheap paint job on it and had planned to repaint it anyways so that doesn't bother me. I had an Overkill Offroad rear bumper on my Tacoma where I paid extra for powder coating and it chipped off like crazy, wasted $$. I ended up painting it so I am not worried about paint. What I am worried about is modifying something that should be a direct fit. If there is any issues that can't be resolved quickly then I'm after Kyle on it. I have no plans to ship it back though, I'd never see it again nor a refund I'm sure.

Well I'm not surprised but they shorted me 2 of the mounting bolts and the brackets don't fit properly and are NOT for my 1" body lift. So I'm going to contact them and ask for the correct brackets, not PO'ed b/c I figured this would happen. The guy working on it with me said he could make some new ones though if he had to so that's cool. Too tired to post any pics tonight, will get them tomorrow.

Just waiting for photobucket now but my brackets looked really good. I have no idea why they're cut at an angel and have a bend on the flat part that bolts to the frame. Doesn't matter though, the way we mounted them was the best fit and it still wasn't right.

OK, well the lighting isn't the best but here it is sitting how it "should fit" on the brackets. You can see it's almost exactly 1" too low so he didn't send the brackets for my 1" body lift which was on my order.

This is a pic of the bracket he sent. Looks like good quality right? Also looks upside down but this is the only way it would fit without hitting the body mount on the frame and for the bolt holes to line up. Why the angle? IDK, because it won't fit inside the recessed part of the bumper flush.

Close up shot of the bracket. See how it bends upward near the end of the frame rail, I can't figure out why b/c there's a gap between the bracket and frame. Also, the angle on the side piece of the bracket prevents it from sitting inside the bumper and leaves about a quarter inch gap that needs filled before you can weld it. The bracket could be notched to make it fit but it still won't account for the 1" discrepancy or the gap.

I thought the brackets were upside down. Why wouldn't the vertical support run along the frame instead of down supporting nothing you know? Well, when you do that the bracket then points downwards on the end and my 1" issue becomes about a 9" issue so that wasn't it. Unless they welded the bracket wrong which I think is a possibility. The bumper looks tough, it really does and had we not run late the guy helping me out said he'd try and modify these but it was already past 9pm and he had his family to tend to. He already did enough so he's up for the challenge if Kyle won't make this right. If Kyle refuses to help then it's on!
I have to say that unless you have access to a torch and can weld, cut, grind, drill then don't buy this bumper. Or if you're fortunate enough to find or know somebody that can do this. It's definitely not a bolt on procedure whatsoever.

Well I sent Kyle an email last night about the issues and I'm impressed with his response. He didn't argue at all, just stated that he didn't understand what happened b/c they sent 1" body lift brackets and will get some new ones made. I asked for him to send them unassembled and without the angle on the part that sits flush with the frame to eliminate the gap. I was really expecting some resistance but I feel much better so we'll see.

Mine wasn't simple bolt on either. had to cut and notch mine so it would sit level. I also had to drill the mounting holes as well. It looks to me like the mounying brackets werent made long enough. whatever they did they sure as heck didn't do it right.

No, KMA did not fail. I clicked the same link you quoted and it took me straight to their site. Maybe your PC is watching out for you.
Nonetheless, if Crol's link does not work for you, you can always google them.

I see now why other fabricators require the vehicle at their shop in order to build the custom bumper around. Just for cases like this.

True, I think it's better to be at the shop but then I can't imagine why they bend the bracket up and aren't all of these frame holes in the same place for the hitch? Either way, I'm going to have this on soon!!

Not yet, the new mounting brackets are on the way here. Soon as they get here and the guy has the time we're completing it. Hopefully some day after work this week b/c we're heading back to OH for Easter.
