What makes these kits so much more expensive than the 05 kits for instance. The 05 is a bigger freakin truck

Not just the 01 . 01-04 kits are always priced higher than say the 05 and up or the 00 and older . For starters all the ads in the relative mags and every shop I've called around here .

in regards to the 95.5-04... before 95.5 i dont feel like looking up, after 04 is still listed as higher$, not lower$, as i said in a previous post, and for reasons i do not know... they look similar, only that the 05+ is a newer product and they will surely be trying to recover some cost of development, engineering, and manufacturing of the kit

the taco ifs bracket lift is almost like a big spacer lift. you dont really gain that much ground clearance as you are still IFS... i always see chevys lifted like that and you can see where they have nailed stuff with the low hanging ifs...

yeah, uh... a bracket lift is not like a spacer lift... pretty much ever....
with a bigass spacer lift, yeah, you'll destroy the cv's but you'll actually have more clearance between front diff and ground... however you will have completely destroyed how your front suspension was designed to cycle
with a bracket lift, yeah, you dont get the clearance under the diff, but you preserve the cv angles, the suspension cycle, and depending on other factors, may give you a not crappier than stock ride... and you still get the room for like 35's or so....
bracket could still be getting you 2.5 inches more clearance under diff, while the biggest spacer could only get you 2.5-3.... bracket = 6 inches clearance under body/frame ,while same spacer only the same 2.5-3"

And the pre taco suspension is much different and not as complex to lift. Hence its cheaper. And R&D was done 2 decades ago.
Despite what many people say I prefer a braket lift to a spacer lift any day of the week. CV and steering angles are better. Breakover angle is much much better. You can actually fit a larger tire. And on and on. If you really worried about front diff clearance do a bracket lift with a 1" spacer. That will yeild the best of both worlds. I have a 4" bracket and turned the torsion bars up ever so slightly as to get about 1" more under the front diff.

Yes, I like my drop braket lift way more than I ever liked my 2-3" suspension lift. The suspension cycles great.
Only real downside is the high Center of Gravity. :/
As for the guy asking questions about why its more... Well, it would make sense that its about the same as the 05+, but not more. But, think how much market there is for someone to buy it with 96-04 models. A ton. (This would usually drop price, but, in this case they know people will still pay it).

true, its the same in that its NOT a solid axle, but they have completely different characteristics that cant be ignored
