You ever resolve this? My power steering has gotten "notchy" as of late. It seems to really only be a problem at lower speeds or idle. When I'm creeping around a turn from a stop, I feel the power steering sort of go out or shudder through the turn, like it's browning out, so to speak.

I'm wondering if this is my PS pump going out or something else and would be interested to hear if you resolved your problem.

Okay, good to know. I recently did a motor swap too and didn't disconnect the pump either. I just spent a few hours today wrangling with replacing the steering rack bushings, so I'm really hoping there's no issue with the rack. My PS belt feels pretty tight, but I'll give it a go and see if that works.
