Power Seat - Broken

For the past few months the power seatback on my 97 4Runner Limited's passenger side has failed to work properly.

It's stuck in a rather reclined position. When I try to operate the switch, the seat moves slightly forward, or backward..but not enough to make it comfortable. Less than 1/4" movement at seat top. Also, it moves uneven from left to right.

Anybody know how the motors are set up in these seats? I'm going on a little road trip with the S/O in two weeks and would like it fixed.

Since it tries to move it soulds like it is binding somewhere.

Pull the seat out and look under it you should be able to get a better idea looking at that.

It you tilt it in the truck then you can watch the seat try to move and see what is going on.

Hopefully somebody out there has a diagram that shows the operation of the seat motor. Unfortunately, I really don't want to just tear into it blindly. I'm not really in to wasting my time.

True but it is not that complicated at all. There are 2 motors 1 for the back and forth and the other for the seat back. You really can't know what is going on until you look under there, i have seen a screwdriver jammed into the rail before that made this kind of problem, so it could be something simple like that.

And get that FSM from Bighead, that will tell you the most you will ever know. I have been wanting to get one for my 2000 but just can't find them...for my price that is...
