Possible oil pressure problem?

I have a '98 2.7 3RZ that I swapped into my '84 pickup. Completely rebuilt with LCE Performance master kit. I have about 25-30K miles on it at this time. Aftermarket(Autometer) electric oil pressure gauge. At idle I have a ticking/clattering. Rev it slightly, and it goes away. It is also intermittent. Sometimes it's quiet as a mouse. Oil pressure reads about 10psi at idle, 37 at cruise. Runs great, oil level is good. Valve clearances checked out fine. Any ideas?

Timing chain was replaced, of course, but not the tensioner(not to my knowledge). I'm at a loss here...

I needed to replace my water pump due to slight seepage from the gasket(thanks LCE Performance, 27K miles) so I got an OEM unit. While removing my belts, I noticed my crank pulley move very easily. Turns out my crank bolt worked loose, allowing the pulley to wiggle and wear out the woodruff key. This was causing my noise I hope. Cleaned it all up, hope for the best for a few weeks. Then I can pull the engine, and replace necessary parts... Yay.

Hey,

Just caught your thread. Was the crank bolt the problem?

It was definitely loose. I cleaned everything up and reinstalled. The key is damaged, as is the balancer. Not sure about crank. It's to deep to tell, hidden behind lower t-chain pulley as well. I am curious as to why there is only 3/16"-1/4" of key engaging to the balancer anyway? The crank isn't even cut further out to accommodate a longer key...

I loctited the bolt and tightened the bolt as hard as I could with a 1/2" breaker. Hopefully it will hold for a bit longer, til I can tear the front of the engine off and investigate further, to see if I will need a crankshaft as well...

I believe that key is mainly for dampener alignment. Don't quote me on this---------but I believe I read something about this happening here. The dampener took the brunt of the damage and crank was okay.
I guess will know when you get wrenching in there. Maybe someone else can chime in and shed some more light on it.

Keep your fingers crossed and post up when you get to it.
