Yeah, I find it hilarious that they take a $500 car and spend $20k on it without doing anything to make it DEPENDABLE. The people they do this for are all broke, so as soon as the engine or transmission craps out, it'll be sitting on blocks in their driveway. Also, when they wear out those 22" tires in about 15-20k miles, it would be nice to see the look on their faces when they have to fork over $1600 for a new set... I saw that 4Runner last night as well. I mentioned something to my wife and got the "eye roll". It's been in every episode that I've seen (4 or 5) and it's always been up on the lift. It's a shame they did that to a perfectly good 3rd gen...

you know sooner or later people are going to start beating the crap out of their cars on purpose just to get on that show. Have you seen the Ferrari Enzo in their shop. Now what exactly can you do to a Ferrari Enzo to make it better.

I do the same thing, and my wife gets annoyed!

It looks like the rear axle is up pretty far, so its probably slammed. They took out the gaps between the rear bumper and the quarter panel.

yea i love trying to guess the year.

01s & 02s are dead give aways -- new tail lights, but 02s have the chrome around the license plate holder.

96s are distinguishably aged in comparison.

97s have that different / unique grill.

98s are tough, but look newer than 97s without that stuck out front bumper.

99s & 00s have that stuck out front bumper, but its hard to tell between the two without looking inside.

there you have the extent of my insanity

With the exception of the interior stuff (amp for the guitar, tv screens, couch) it was an absolute disgrace to 4 wheeled vehicles. With the 17's it had more ground clearance than my truck, then they go and slap a spoiler the size of china on the roof I'd sell that thing on ebay, and quick.
I saw the guy, Xhibit, on Jay Leno last night. They showed a clip from that episode- the Daihatsu Hijet.
Sorry but they IMPROVED that POS! It was a total wreck before! I think the side door was a piece of scrap wood or something!
Looks like a fun show, wish I had cable.

hahaha, not but just two hours ago my dorm mate and I got into a big argument about whether it was a 4Runner or not.... He thought it was a chevy tahoe! I wanted to smack him. He is stubborn and would not give in that it was a 4Runner and I showed him this post and he is now out at the local "stop and rob" buying me beer.... I would say the argument was worth it... and a thanks to all of yall for helping me win beer!!!

Yeah, pimped runner not cool

I'm going to school in boulder, and i have seen a Runner with almost the exact same set up as that one on "pimp my ride", except they still have a licence plate. It is a sad sight to behold, seeing so mighty a truck lowered so low (literally) Keep the dubs on the Escalades and Suburbans!
