Header Pics

Just got the LCE header all dialed in the 4Runner. It took the exhaust shop two tries to create a flange to match up to the header without leaking. Haven't even had a chance for the computer reset to get adjusted yet.

 

Sweet. I've had headers on all my cars. My 2.7 could use a little help. How much was the headers and shop work?

 

It looks great. How is the performance end of it? Did you cut the factory down pipe and use the toyota cat or did you use your own cat?

 

The Header ran me $290 from www.lcengineering.com. The part was backordered for a couple weeks so it took a while to get here. I did the installation myself. If you are looking to install any new header, buy the stud and nut kit ($17) because the stock ones are junk. The install was not too tough, pretty time consuming because of bad angles and bolts in tight places. Once the header was installed, I had to drive it about 10 miles with just the straight header to a local shop to have a flange welded to the header. The truck was incredibly loud, I was sure a noise ticket was coming. I had to keep it under 2k rpm the whole time!
The flange work ran me $50.

On the performance side, I don't know yet. It got put together this morning. Driving home from the exhaust shop it definitely felt like there was more pull from the bottom, didn't have a chance to wind it up really. Upon getting home I reset the EFI and OBD which takes about an 1 hour to calibrate after doing that. Because of the reset it is running pretty rough. I will take it out later today and report my findings back. I am looking forward to it.

As for the rest of the exhaust, I already had a high flow cat, flowmaster 40 series muffler, and 2.25 inch pipes. The shop just welded a flange to my existing 2.25 downpipe. I am hoping this header is the cherry on my exhaust sundae.
